About us
Greetings to all of you, who value the gifts from Nature!
Natural, simple and pure - just as She has created them.
Our fundamental objective is that our herbs reach you all, who have invited health into your daily lives, trusting the wealth of our Bulgarian land. Our mission is to distribute the herbs of Bulgaria for a healthier life and as an alternative way of healing.
We are two enthusiasts, originally from the city of Silistra, Bulgaria, and later, due to the set of circumstances, became "citizens of the world". We would like to present to you our mursalski tea and our story briefly.
For years we wondered and searched, assessed and selected, estimated and considered. We worked professions that had nothing to do with our current endeavour. It took us thousands of kilometres, countless remembered and forgotten friendships, a pile of sweet, bitter and dangerous experiences for us to be sure that life in Bulgaria is the best. Our homeland has remained just as dear and loved, wherever we have been, whatever we have seen. Our Bulgarian roots fulfilled its demand and brought us back home. Afterwards, our love for nature, immeasurable beauty and exceptional strength of Rhodope mountains showed us the path to undertake ...
The herb (Sideritis scardica) is known with different names in various regions in Bulgaria and countries - Mountain tea, Greek mountain tea, Ironwort, Shepherd tea, Pirin tea, Mursalksi tea and more. The herb is endemic to the Balkans and can be found in Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Serbia, Macedonia and Albania. A legend says that mursalski tea has begun to grow where Orpheus's tears have fallen when he cried for his beloved - Eurydice.
Our herbal garden is located northeast from Smolyan, more than 1200 meters above sea level, isolated from the road network. We chose this altitude because in its natural areal mursalski tea grows between 1200 and 2100 meters above sea level, where it develops its medicinal properties. We care for each plant with our hands and only manual tools are used to plug weeds from the flower beds and paths. We have not and will not use any kind of chemicals or fertilizers within the borders of our land. We intend to grow our herbs following the natural laws and we do not have ambitions for overproduction.
We desire to produce something healthy, nice and beneficial for people who value nature and its gifts. We harvest our plants entirely by hand and by the assistance of a horse we pull the production to the nearest road that can be reached after 300 meters of steep climbing. In a village nearby more people work for days to clean, align, put in order and bind stacks harvested by sickle stalks.
The field planted by us is in a process of BIO production and after a given period of time and required bureaucracy it will be officially accredited as a BIO product.
